During the dark days of apartheid Robbie inspired us to cross the barricades. Without his music, the struggle for freedom would have been bleak indeed. If it were not for Robbie many would not have dared to venture out of the cloister and sanctuary of white suburbia, while those suffering the brunt of segregation would not have had an excuse to open their doors. Without Robbie there would be no love in the struggle and we would not have embraced freedom or each other. From Manenburg is where its happening, to African Sun and Sabenza, Robbie carved a path in our lives as a giant amongst men. A piece of Table Mountain has gone.
